Recycle-O-Rama

Also, Lake Count is organizing a Recycle-O-Rama event to commemorate the American Recycles day. Apart from accepting the usual plastics, papers and aluminum, the event also accepts larger items that cannot be disposed off at curb side recycling centers.

The event is to be conducted on November 3rd 2012 and the officials are hoping that it just as successful as it was last year. SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake Count) official, Merleanne Rampale said that the event last year was attended by several people streaming in all the time, giving no break for the officials.

Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act is an ordinance that communities in Illinois are required to follow.  According to the act, people must take responsibility to  dispose electronic gadgets such as TVs, video game consoles, computers and microwaves. Proper disposal is important so that the hazardous chemicals within the gadgets don’t leak and make their way into waterways and landfills.
