Martinizing Dry Cleaners, in conjunction with The Green Garmento, are forming a partnership to move away from single-use plastic packaging to reusable garment bags. Martinizing Dry Cleaners is one of the nations largest dry cleaning chains, with over 240 stores nation wide. The company would like to go green and start using more eco friendly reusable bags.
Every year, 1.4 billion pieces of clothing are drycleaned and over 300 million pounds of plastic garment covers end up in landfills or our waterways. The Green Garmento is a recyclable 4-in-1 garment bag that serves as a laundry bag for drycleaning, transforms into a duffel bag to be carried to the drycleaner, and finally into a hanging garment bag for cleaned clothes. The bags help drycleaners reduce packaging waste and save money, while helping the environment reduce single use plastic wrap.
Although the Green Garmento is made of plastic, it is made of 100 percent recycled polypropylene and the bags will last for many trips back and forth. Dry cleaning in itself isn’t very green, unless they do not use perchlorethylene, but these custom reusable bags are a step in the right direction.
