In today’s society, people that have been relieved of their duties in their corporate jobs have been busy creating their own jobs. A new and up-coming profession are “Eco-Concierges”. Eco-Concierges will come into your home or your business, and help you re-design your space to be more health and environment conscientious. They even run errands on their environmentally friendly bicycles and shop with reusable shopping bags.
The clients that are seeking out the advice from eco-concierges tend to be people that are on the higher end of the economic scale. They can afford to hire someone who will save them the time to research the best eco-friendly products and practices. An eco-conceirge will come to your home or business, with samples of products and educate you on their use. They will also re-design spaces and show you simple changes you can make that are simple, more healthy, and better for the environment.
An eco-concierge can help a client in numerous ways, depending on what type of help they need. Often times, one change leads to another change, and a real lifestyle re-design will occur. For example, one person hired an eco-concierge to help her decide which eco-friendly cleaning products would be best for her home to help her husbands asthma condition. However, upon meeting with the eco-concierge, this client also discovered an eco-friendly hairstylist that could color her hair with natural dye. Her husband got on board, and decided to purchase a a solar-powered fan for the attic. They are now looking into clothing made from more natural resources as well.
Eco-concierges also work with big corporations to purchase effective, yet less toxic chemicals to clean with. They will train the janitorial staff how to use the new products, since it won’t be the CEO that hired them, that will be using the new eco-friendly products. Eco-concierges will educate staff to promote the use of eco friendly reusable shopping bags to bring lunches to work with and stress the wastefullness of single use plastic bags.
