Grant money for the year is based on recycling successes

The grant money awarded by the Christie Administration to the various regions is completely based on the success rates for recycling that the local governments showed in the year of 2010. Recycling and using eco-friendly promotional items have become the most popular green measures practiced by most of the cities and counties in the United States of America. Recycling has been considered as high priority by the Christie Administration as it helps improve the environment. Apart from this, recycling also helps in creating quite a few tangible economic benefits for the municipalities, according to the information given by the Environmental Protection Commissioner Department.

The state of New Jersey will observe its 25th anniversary of the Mandatory Recycling Act in 2012. It is a landmark law that made this state the very first to require recycling in the United States of America. By celebrating the anniversary of this Act, the state is trying to make a call for action to all its areas, so that every resident can renew their commitment towards recycling.

Usage of eco-friendly promotional items and recycling helps reduce trash

The Environmental Protection Commissioner Department said that the grant program is currently funded by a three dollar per ton surcharge on garbage disposed at any solid waste facilities. Local governments receive at least 60% of the money that this fund generates in order to help in encouraging recycling and enhancing the compliance efforts. Senator of the state, Kevin O’Toole said in a statement that the municipalities must receive the grant money checks within a short span of time.
