LG Electronics USA is trying to build its name in the eco-friendly sector by joining hands with the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States of America, in order to practice responsible recycling of electronic goods. The company is going to be a charter participant in the Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge (SMMEC) launched by the Environmental Protection Agency recently.
Presently, LG Electronics is showing its support to the EPA’s goal of encouraging the responsible management of the electronics used by the consumers. According to the challenge, EPA hopes to motivate the companies and consumers to voluntarily commit to sending all their used electronic goods for recycling and reusing. All the electronic waste collected will be sent to certified third-party recyclers.

The support provided by LG for the SMM Electronic Challenge shows its leadership in the electronic waste recycling arena, which also comes in line with the National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship hosted by President Obama. In fact, the company collected and also responsibly recycled over 15 million pounds of ineffectual and unused electronics in the year 2011. Along with this, the company has also encouraged people to utilize eco-friendly promotional items in order to protect the planet as well.
