Recycling Wasted Power and Heat Will Clear the Air

Green energy   Arcelor Mittal Steel USA is trying to find another method to beat all its competitors and also reduce pollution. The company is cutting  the energy consumption levels at one of its Chicago steel plants, by re-using the heat in order to produce electricity. By doing so, the company is saving over 100 million dollars every year by producing an extra 75 megawatts of electricity, which is emission-free.

The method of using combined power and heat technologies can be used by gas and oil processing businesses as well, and not just steel manufacturers. Chemical, iron and cement makers can also use the same technology as well. Scientists have said that recycling of this wasted energy is a more productive tool, which improves energy efficiencies and minimizes the emission of greenhouse gases.

Increasing the energy efficiency of American industries can produce excess power

Increasing the industrial energy efficiency of America can help in producing more power from natural coal, gas, biomass and landfill gas, with less waste produced. Quite a few benefits are present for businesses, consumers and the environment. By increasing the industrial energy efficiency, the pressure on the country’s commercial electricity grid can also be reduced, making the whole system more reliable.

Recycling and using eco-friendly promotional items are popular green measures

Recycling is one of the most popular green practices in the United States of America, apart from the practice of using eco-friendly promotional items. Citizens are becoming more eco-minded and are practicing a more sustainable lifestyle, in order to help protect the environment.

According to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, increasing the industrial efficiency of using energy can help generate over 200 billion dollars as new private investments in the country. Altogether, the report says that the expansion of co-generation of heat and power can provide over twenty percent of the country’s generation capacity by the year 2020.

The White House is also adding that the combined power and heat systems can help save manufacturers over $100 billion each year. All this money will come from reducing energy costs, bolstering competitive positions and improving bottom lines. President Barack Obama in August 2012 signed an executive order, which calls for increase in combining power and heat by almost fifty percent by the year 2010. It equates to about 40,000 megawatts of electricity, which is enough to displace more than eight huge coal plants.
